About · Dogecoin
Dogecoin (DOGE) was created in December 2013 by Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer as a Bitcoin parody, based on the Shiba Inu "Doge" internet meme. Originally a joke, DOGE has become one of the most recognized cryptos in the world, propelled by its very active community and repeated Elon Musk tweets in 2020-2021. It's a proof-of-work chain (a Litecoin fork) with one-minute blocks and 10,000 DOGE issued per block — no supply cap, which creates constant but predictable inflation (~5 billion DOGE per year). DOGE is mostly used for online tipping and small transfers. Its "fun and accessible crypto" branding earned it a cult following.
