BNB is the native token of the Binance ecosystem, the world's largest crypto exchange. Launched in 2017 via an ICO on Ethereum (then migrated to its own chain in 2019), BNB is used to pay Binance trading fees at a discount, to participate in token sales on Binance Launchpad, and to interact with the BNB Smart Chain — an Ethereum-compatible blockchain that's faster and cheaper. Binance burns BNB every quarter to reduce supply, creating deflationary pressure. The initial supply was 200 million; the long-term target is 100 million. BNB is central to anyone actively using the Binance ecosystem.
