About local holidays
Argentina has fifteen to eighteen public holidays a year (including "feriados puentes" decreed ad hoc to create long weekends). May 25 marks the May Revolution of 1810, July 9 the 1816 Independence Declaration at Tucumán. Flag Day (June 20) honours Manuel Belgrano. Catholic Easter, Immaculate Conception, the Virgin of Luján and Christmas anchor the religious calendar. Carnival (Monday and Tuesday) has been a public holiday since 2011, revived after decades of neglect.
